Regulations assessment related to biogas production and usage

The purpose of BIOGASNET is demonstrating a new cost-effective and environmentally friendly technology for biogas desulphurisation. In that sense, LIFE BIOGASNET project develops an innovative and low-carbon footprint technology for biogas upgrading with the aim to boost the use of biogas as a sustainable energy source and reduce the carbon footprint of the energy cycle promoting the circular economy concept.
This document is intended to identify the regulations and directives that may affect the development of the project at regional, national and European level. The BIOGASNET prototype will be implemented firstly in the Miramundo-Los Hardales landfill located in Cádiz (Spain) and will then be transferred to another landfill in the Attica Region, Athens (Greece) for further study of its operation. For this reason, different regulations of different places and nature affect the implementation of the prototype. This document is a complete and detailed compilation to be consulted whenever necessary. In addition, in the future as it is intended to commercialize the prototype, it is important to determine which regulations affect each implementation site. In the future, if necessary, and if the prototype is extended beyond Europe, this document will be completed with both country-level and continental regulations.
