Prototype operation manual for Cádiz site
Aeris is responsible for the design and construction of BIOGASNET prototype in collaboration with UCA and UPC. Briefly, the purpose of this project is demonstrating a new cost-effective and environmentally friendly technology for biogas desulphurisation. In that sense, LIFE BIOGASNET project develops an innovative and low-carbon footprint technology for biogas upgrading with the aim to boost the use of biogas as a sustainable energy source and reduce the carbon footprint of the energy cycle promoting the circular economy concept.
The BIOGASNET prototype will be implemented firstly in the Miramundo-Los Hardales landfill located in Cádiz (Spain). The pilot plant consists in two main equipment: a nitrification bioreactor that will be fed by landfill leachate and an anoxic biotrickling filter that will be fed by the effluent for the nitrification bioreactor and the biogas from the landfill wells. The main objective of this prototype operation is to gather information for the optimisation of the technology, the search of its limits and the definition of advanced control strategies. The installation of the prototype allows to show the robustness of the technology allowing to obtain a by-product of interest besides reducing the amount of leachates generated in the landfilling process.
The current document contains the detailed description for the proper operation of the prototype under the activities of Action B2 (Operation of the Prototype at the Landfill). Hence, it provides the operational description for the control of the process units that comprises the protype to be implemented in Cádiz.
The manual is written in Spanish since it is mainly elaborated for the plant operators at Cadiz site.
