[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Domingo Cantero<\/strong> and Jos\u00e9 Joaqu\u00edn Gonz\u00e1lez-Cort\u00e9s<\/strong>, partners from the University of Cadiz<\/a>, have disseminated the LIFE BIOGASNET project<\/a> during the 1st<\/sup> International Conference on Sustainable Chemical and Environmental Engineering<\/strong> (Susteng 2022)<\/strong><\/a>, organised by the Technical University of Crete<\/a> in a hybrid format on August 31st<\/sup>-September 4th<\/sup> in Rethymno (Greece).<\/p>\n

They attended the confernece in-person to present the technology introduced by LIFE BIOGASNET for desulfurising biogas<\/strong><\/a>, which is based on biological processes to obtain high-quality biogas and final by-products such as sulfur.<\/p>\n

During their speeches, they talked about the installation of the project pilot plant in Cadiz<\/a>, consisting of a nitrification bioreactor<\/strong> fed by landfill leachate and an anoxic bioscrubber<\/strong> fed by the effluent from the nitrification bioreactor and the biogas from the landfill wells.<\/p>\n

In particular, Domingo Cantero detailed the operation of a sequencing batch bioreactor for the nitrification of landfill leachates<\/strong>, detailing the different materials and methods needed and discussing the results obtained.<\/p>\n

As for Jos\u00e9 Joaqu\u00edn Gonz\u00e1lez-Cort\u00e9s, he centered on the landfill biogas desulfurisation <\/strong>stage of the project, performed thanks to a bioscubber<\/strong>. His presentation was contributed by Sandra Torres-Herrera, also from the University of Cadiz.<\/p>\n
